MEMBERSHIP

Salida Ceramics offers membership to artists with at least intermediate experience with clay, such that they are able to work independently in the studio and have knowledge around clay management and glazing best practices. Members receive their own cubby and a shelf to store their work, tools, and clay.

Wheel throwing

Members have access to eight Shimpo wheels, a wedging table, ware boards, studio tools, glazes, oxides, and seven clay bodies.

Hand building and sculpture

Members have access to dedicated equipment and tools for hand building and sculpture. This includes a slab roller, extruder, work tables, ware boards, banding wheels, and molds.

Clay, glazes, and firing

Members have access to seven New Mexico Clay cone six clay bodies, which must be purchased in the studio. The clay bodies are ChoCoLate Clay, Especkled, Pecos Porcelain, White Stoneware, Cashmere, Ochre, and Super Sculpture Buff.

The studio provides glazes and oxides for members to use. The cost of glazes and firing is included in the cost of clay. The studio has a Skutt kiln on site where all member work is fired.

Members and students receive their own, unique door code and are able to access the studio any time from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
